Into India

Ok! Over the past 3 days I have been "on my way" to India. I was a fine trip with only one stop in Frankfurt Germany, then on to Mumbai (Bombay). Got in at about 3:00 am Mumbai time with little jet lag. I was able to sleep with the rest of the sardines in coach class on Lufthansa. The flight was otherwise nice. Watch a couple of movies and slept to help ward off jet lag.

Friday morning, after 5 hours sleep we made our first excursion outside the hotel. Very interesting; sights smells, smells, smells, people, and, well, did I say smells? Very awesome architecture here from the colonial period. Too bad it has not been maintained very well since the british left. Lots of shopping (he he he) hawkers on the street, average clothing shops and some nice carpet and decorative goods shops. Today, we go to an island in the bay east of Mumbai , Elephanta Island, to see anchient temple ruins carved into the mountain. Pictures to follow.

Leo

Leo died middle of December. He was 14 and survived diabetes and old age for quite a long time. But... that time caught up with him.

All in All...

It was a wonderful trip,...

another wonderful sunset,...

can you tell which way the ocean is flowing in these pictures?

Coffee Country here we come.

After driving around the southeast side of the island we entered the more temperate area of Kona, which lies on the verticle slopes of the south side of the island. Beautiful view though a bit cloudy. We finally, after fourwheeling up the side of Mauna Loa we found our cottage on the hill. The temperature was wonderful so we threw open the doors and windows and enjoyed the mountain side breeze!

moving across the island in search of

Another place to stay.... found this hot spot in Hawi... but they just did not have a room available.

So, we went on vacation!!!

As you can see, we stayed at some of the best places.... notice the nice stone work. The rocks were a little hard on my bad back, but hey, don't they use warm stones for some kind of hokey massage thing?

Ok Ok Ok...

Ok, so I don't post often. Well, I am busy you know. I am in the process of converting old family videos from super 8, beta and well, the modern vhs to DVD. It is fun. Kind of interesting watching them. Sad too, so many of the folks in the videos are gone now, especially my Mom and my Grandmother. I guess that is life, and I guess one never gets over it. But, it is nice to have these to remember all the fun times we had.

Tomorrow is my babies birthday!!!! wooo hooo... he is gettin' so old now... Glad the easy bake fired up or there would have been no birfday kake!

We have had company this week. An old friend from Kansas City has been down to visit. It has been enjoyable. I think the last time I had a friend down I got food poisoning from food we ate on the way home from the airport. I was just well enough to take him back to the airport to go home. He has not been back,,, in fact none of my friends have been until now! hmmm.

Here is a picture upload from my tank.

Let's see if it works. Sprint sucks...

This is a test from my phone

Let's see if it works.

Day in the life.

Jumping actually was the most exciting thing I have ever done. I don't think there is anything I am afraid of any more.

Out of the sky it fell.

Cool new watch.

In the beginning

Well, I guess I have to get on the band wagon. I am late with blogging but I do admit I used AOL 1.0 and Quicken 1.0 and I remember when GUI was first used on dial up bulletin boards and an IBM PC with a 20 meg hard drive and 256k was $10,000.
